
On a bright, sunny morning, excitement was in the air as we kicked off our very first Wellness Walk at 10:00 AM at Woodside Urban Park playground in Silver Spring, Maryland. This wasn’t just any walk—it was the start of what we hope will become a monthly tradition for our community, bringing people together to move, chat, and enjoy nature. The energy was high as everyone gathered, ready to embark on this new adventure focused on health, wellness, and good company.
We started things off with a fun warm-up led by a local fitness instructor, getting everyone loose with some balance exercises and gentle stretches. Laughter and smiles filled the space as participants got moving, setting the perfect tone for the morning ahead.
Located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, Woodside Urban Park is a hidden gem with its beautiful tree-lined paths and charming streets. The group set off for a scenic walk through the Woodside Urban Community, and it was more than just a stroll—it felt like an adventure. With its historic character and peaceful atmosphere, the neighborhood provided a stunning backdrop as we made our way along the route, taking in the fresh air and vibrant fall colors.
But this Wellness Walk wasn’t just about getting our steps in. Along the way, there were plenty of great conversations about bone health, staying active, and local resources that help keep us moving. The group bonded over shared experiences, tips for keeping fit, and the simple joy of being outdoors. There was a real sense of community, and it felt good to be part of something meaningful while exploring this beautiful neighborhood.
As the walk wrapped up and we returned to the playground, everyone felt energized and accomplished. Before heading home, participants filled out a quick survey and received a personalized assessment document to help them stay active and keep up with regular physical activity for bone health.
